Welcome to WisdomLayers
WisdomLayers is a web design agency building custom websites for small businesses across North Carolina. Your job: find businesses that need a website, start conversations with them, and hand them off when they're ready to talk. We close the deal, you earn a commission.
Your Email Account
You've been given a WisdomLayers email address. Use this account for ALL outreach. Never use your personal email. Login through mail.google.com.
Every email you send must include this footer, pre-set as your default signature. Do not remove it from any email.
Your Reach dashboard link is private to you. Do not share it with anyone. Your notes and claimed leads are visible only to you and the owner.
Who We Target
Location: Small businesses in North Carolina only.
Type: Local service businesses, barbershops and hair salons, contractors (plumbers, electricians, HVAC, pressure washing), cleaning companies, restaurants and food businesses, therapists and counselors, auto repair shops, landscapers, photographers and videographers, or any local service business a homeowner or resident would search for.
Criteria: They must have either no website at all, or a website that is clearly outdated (looks like it was built before 2015, not mobile-friendly, broken pages, no contact form).
Skip: Any business with a modern, functional website. Emailing them makes us look uninformed.
How to Find Businesses
Start with your own research before using the provided lead list.
Where to look:
- Google Maps: search "[service type] in [NC city]" and look at businesses with no website linked or a bad one
- Yelp: same approach, filter by city and service category
- Facebook: search for local NC businesses with only a Facebook page and no website
- Chamber of Commerce directories for NC cities
How to verify a business needs a website:
- Search their business name on Google
- Click any website link that comes up
- If there is no website, they are a target
- If the site looks like it was built in 2010, loads slowly, or isn't mobile-friendly on your phone, they're still a target
Track every business you research in the Lead Tracker, even if you decide not to contact them. Label their website status so we never research the same business twice.
How to Write Outreach Emails
Full scripts on the Email Scripts pageDo not use copy-paste templates. Every email must reference something specific about that business.
The four-line structure:
Rules:
- Keep every email under 100 words
- Never mention price in the first email unless you're already using it as the hook
- Never say "I hope this email finds you well"
- Never use the word "synergy" or any corporate buzzword
- End with one question only, never two
- Always reference something real and specific about THAT business
The Follow-Up Sequence
Most businesses will not reply to the first email. That doesn't mean they aren't interested. Follow up.
Three touchpoints total per business. No more. After Day 9, move them to Not Interested in the tracker and do not contact again.
When Someone Replies
If they're interested or curious: Immediately update their status in the tracker to "Interested." Reply warmly and naturally, answer their question, do not pitch hard. Then notify the owner and let them take over.
If they say not interested: Reply "No worries at all, appreciate you taking the time to respond." Update the tracker to Not Interested. Move on.
If they say unsubscribe: Reply "Of course, removing you now." Update the tracker to Unsubscribed. Never contact them again from any WisdomLayers email address. This is a legal requirement.
What a Warm Lead Means
A warm lead is a business owner who has replied and shown genuine interest, not just someone who opened the email. A real reply expressing curiosity or asking a question.
You hand off a warm lead by:
- Updating their status in the tracker to "Warm Lead"
- Messaging the owner directly with the business name, owner name, what they said, and the best way to reach them
Do not try to close the deal yourself. Your job ends at the handoff.
How Commission Works
You earn commission when a lead you generated becomes a paying client. The client must pay their deposit to WisdomLayers before your commission is earned. Payment comes to you within 7 days of the client's deposit arriving, via PayPal, Venmo, or bank transfer, your choice.

What WisdomLayers Is
Use this when a lead asks questionsDo not promise features that aren't listed on the pricing page. Do not negotiate price, that's the owner's job. If they ask something you don't know, say you'll check and get back to them.
Response time expectation. The owner replies within a few hours during business hours. For urgent warm leads, message them immediately regardless of time.
